Pentucket Pond Fanwort Control Project
At the Annual Town meeting
of 2003 the voters appropriated funding to allow the treatment of Pentucket
Pond for the control of Fanwort (Cabomba). The Pentucket Pond Advisory
Committee, working with the Georgetown Conservation commission has investigated
and made recommendations for dealing with this problem. The Committee has
established and provided a multi-year Aquatic Plant Management Plan for
Pentucket Pond. The extent of infestation and plant distribution
was confirmed this spring, and partial treatment of the pond with Flouridone,
a aquatic herbicide was begun. The Pentucket Pond Advisory Committee requests
that the Community Preservation Committee approve and set aside funding
to continue this project through the summer of 2006.
