Recreational Path Continuum
The Recreational Path Committee is requesting $135,000
for the continuation of the Georgetown Recreational Path Project. This
request is a continuum of the previous CPC Grant of fiscal 2005. The requested
funds will enable Georgetown to position the project for eligibility for
Federal Transportation Enhancement Funds.The development of a rail–trail
project of this kind takes approximately 6 to 15 years to realize. The
$30,000
appropriated by the voters at annual Town meeting in 2004 is planned
to be expended in early to mid 2006 for Title Certification by a title
company and a comprehensive Technical Feasibility Study by an engineering
firm. The $135,000 funding for the 25% design of the RecPath is proposed
to be expended only after permission to use the ROW is obtained.
