Union Cemetery Fence Phase II
The current chain link fence at Union Cemetery (identified on the Georgetown
Historic and Cultural Resources Map as Key “C” ) is from the 60’s and
is currently in an advanced state of disrepair. In 2003 the Town Voters
approved funding to replace the current fence with more period-appropriate
wrought iron fence. Since then there were unforseen delays in implementing
the project. During the delays the price of the building materials escalated.
So, the project was divided into two phases. The First Phase incorporates
two thirds of the overall fence length (section 1 and section 2) and has
been put out to bid and awarded. The Second Phase will require a new appropriation
of $26,000 to implement Section 3.
